Everything in order before the ‘Solinso installation’ begins
A successful installation doesn’t start on the roof — it starts the day before. Find out what every installer and installation company needs to check before the first panel hook is fitted.

The Solinso solar roof tile — a product that is a deliberate alternative to a standard solar panel. The choice of Solinso is driven by its aesthetic appeal: no conspicuous panels on the roof, but a fully integrated roof surface. However, this integration does require a different approach to installation. An installation that has not been properly prepared not only wastes time on the day itself, but can also lead to safety risks, leaks or rejection upon final handover.
At Solinso, we see it time and time again: installations that are halted halfway through because materials are missing, or roof penetrations that need to be resealed afterwards. With the right pre-installation approach, you can prevent this.
That is why we have put together this clear pre-installation checklist for the Mystiek — useful for both individual installers and installation companies managing multiple technicians.

Safety — non-negotiable
Working on a roof remains one of the most hazardous working environments in the installation sector. It is therefore no coincidence that the safety section of the checklist is listed first. Ensure that the following points are in place before anyone goes up onto the roof:
- Standard PBM’s included: safety shoes, helmet and other personal protective equipment
- A sturdy scaffold or certified aerial work platform is available
- Fall protection harness provided and inspected in advance for condition and certifications
- Roof edge safety barriers installed in accordance with the RI&E and occupational health and safety standards
Please note
Roof inspection — to measure is to know
Many installation errors stem from a roof that has not been properly prepared. The Mystiek has specific requirements for the substructure. Before starting, check:
- Minimum rafter height ofl 22 mm — essential for the installation of connectors and for the natural air circulation that facilitates heat dissipation
- The battens are securely fastened and aligned horizontally
- Dimensions of the entire roof surface marked
- Cables laid in strings, secured, and labeled by string — always routed under the battens
- Roof ducts installed and properly sealed
Tip for installation companies
Equipment required — never drive the same route twice
A shortage of materials is the most common cause of delays on the day of installation. The checklist includes a comprehensive list of materials specifically for the installation of Solinso solar roof tiles.
Please ensure you have the following:
Mounting materials
- Storm hook
- EPDM-screws and EPDM-tape
- Sikaflex 552-AT — specifically for the area around the concealed gutter and the section without a safety pin
- Strand cables — or loose cable with MC-4 connectors and crimping tools
- PVC pipe for roof ducts
- Cable ties
Tools
- Screwdriver with T20 bit
- Hammer
- Sealant gun
- Multimeter
For installation companies
Checking string current— always measure
After connecting each string, the voltage must be measured and recorded using a multimeter. This is a mandatory step prior to connecting to the inverter. The checklist provides space for three strings, including a field for noting the measured values in volts.
An abnormal reading may indicate a loose connector, a damaged panel or an error in the cable labelling. By identifying this immediately on site, you can avoid a fault report after completion.
Using the checklist
The PDF has been designed for both digital use (on a tablet or phone on the roof) and as a printed A4 document. The checklist concludes with a signature line for the installer and a box for the client to tick — useful as a handover document or for record-keeping.
For installation companies, the checklist is also suitable for use as part of a project file or as an appendix to the work order.
